The UFC announced last night, via Twitter, that Mike Swick had to withdraw from UFC Rio card due to an injury, but Erick Silva is no longer without an opponent. TATAME learned with sources close to the situation that Shooto champion Luis “Beição” Ramos will replace Swick against Silva.
Shooto welterweight champion, “Beição” is coming from three wins in a row, two of them on the same night at WOCS’s GP. The Nova União protégé won 10 out of his last 12 fights, dropping a polemical decision to UFC veteran Roan Carneiro and a KO loss to Pedro Iriê.
Silva signed with the UFC after winning the welterweight title at Jungle Fight, and he’s undefeated on the last 5 years, with eight wins in this time. The Espirito Santo native is training partner of Anderson Silva and Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira, who’ll also fight at the show.
