The brothers Guilherme and Rafael Mendes got used to split the podium in all the belts, but, on the black belt, they haven’t repeated it on a big competition. Although, on this year’s European, that happened last weekend, the tough guys won and took home the gold medals of the bantam and featherweight. Check below what each one said about their conquests:

Guilherme Mendes, bantamweight champion:

“It was the first time that I fought the European and I liked a lot, championships have a better level each year. I’m very happy that I won, since I had though opponents since the first fight. I have to train a lot to be on top and keep it. I’m training with my brother, Durinho, Caporal Ramon and Tiago Mendes. I’ll try the most of championships and to win all I’ll get in to keep my name on top of this category”.

Rafael Mendes, featherweight champion:

“Thank God I was blessed with this victory. Everything I’ve trained in Rio Claro worked out, the physical preparation with Tiago Mendes, and I put my rhythm. On the final, I attacked all the time on the guard passage. He could defend well, but I got the victory, that was my gold, and I didn’t take any points on this championship. Everything went as planned. The European’s level is getting higher, we had good fights and that’s the most important title on my career. I want to win every championship I fight this year, to be on top and not to lose. And I’m working for it”.
