Vitor Belfort Wednesday 28th of October 2009 10:02 AM By Eduardo Ferreira

The fans want Vitor Belfort fighting for the UFC title against Anderson Silva, but Phenom revealed, in exclusive interview to TATAME, that he doesn’t care about a title fight. “I don’t care about fighting for the title, I want to do some more fights. I don’t have this ambition of fighting him (Anderson) now, I didn’t get in UFC looking for it“, guarantees Vitor, who also talked about the controversial decision between Lyoto Machida and Maurício Shogun and what he thinks about the fight between Rogério Nogueira and Luis Cane.

How are your trainings?

I’m always training, keeping in shape, training boxing, working the striking...

Anderson hurt the elbow and he must fight only next year. Do you wanna do one more fight or wait for his recover?

This thing of fighting Anderson is something that I’ve never looked for. I care about him a lot, but started that thing of Dana White talks... I don’t care about fighting for the title, I want to do some more fights. I don’t have this ambition of fighting him (Anderson) now, I didn’t get in UFC looking for it, to take his belt… I never had that thing, I just want to do my work.

Is there anyone else that you’d like to fight and deserve the title shot?

I know I deserve, that’s not the problem, neither the discussion, I just like to make some fights. The belt’s moment is gonna come, there are people that want to talk that I don’t deserve, but I don’t believe that. Anderson is not a guy that I want to fight, I support him a lot, we already trained together, I like him a lot. It’s not a thing that I want to... If the belt were on Nate Marquardt’s hands, if I could choose, I wouldn’t fight with Anderson because I care about him.

What did you think about the fight between Lyoto and Shogun?

It was a really studied fight... Shogun made a great strategy against Lyoto, I think that it’s a fight that deserves a rematch, definitely, to have a convincing result. Everyone that I spoke thinks that Shogun won.

In your opinion, the victory to Lyoto was fair?

The way it was, I didn’t think that was fair. UFC judges aren’t good to judge. To beat the champion, you only have to win, it doesn’t matter how. It doesn’t have to be a convincing victory, just a victory, even more in a fight like this one, when the level of the fighters is very high, it’s gonna be a tough decision and who deserves to win is the champion. I think Shogun hit more, but sometimes the champion goes there thinking that he doesn’t have to do much to win, because he’s already the champion, and it makes a bad fight.

Where do you think that Lyoto was wrong on the strategy?

I think that you have to mix the arts and Lyoto was very focused only on Karate.

Would you like to train with Lyoto again?

I’m like to get all the knowledge that I can share and Lyoto is very good... Who doesn’t want to train with him? It’s always good to be better, to grow.

What do you think about the fight between Rogério Nogueira and Luis Cane? You already trained with Rogério, what advices would you give to him?

Rogério doesn’t need any advice, he know what he has to do. I’ll be supporting him and I’m sure that he’ll make a good fight.
